WHAT’S AIKIDO?
Aikido is translated into Turkish as “The Way of Love”… It is a way of patience, intelligence and harmony…
It lasts until the end of your life.. On this path, we get to know our body and soul, learn to use them in cooperation… And we manage to survive by making the right move at the right time, in the right place.
Aikido aims to teach the attacker a lesson in humanity rather than hurting or causing pain.
Aikido techniques are simple, natural and extremely effective. However, in order to put these techniques into practice when necessary, the person must work with great desire and patience. The point reached as a result of such work is exciting. Because the person’s self-confidence has increased, they have started to communicate with people, look at events and facts much more logically and realistically, and solve their problems with peaceful methods… Moreover, in addition to reaching a calm state of mind, they have also gotten rid of some physical ailments. It is because of all these positive changes and developments that some aikido practitioners mark their lives as “Before Aikido; After Aikido”.
Ai: Meeting, Uniting, Harmonizing..
Ki: Life Energy, Energy in the Universe, Power..
Do: Path, method, understanding..
The technical structure of Aikido consists of ‘circular and spherical’ movements. The aim is to gain control by adding our own balance and power to the opponent’s strike, grip, push and pull movements. Aikido teaching, with its understanding of adaptation, seeks ways to combat more than one problem or attacker at the same time.
Techniques are practiced tirelessly for years and repeatedly.
With this applied behavioral psychology training, it is aimed for the information received to emerge as a reflex when necessary.
Instead of clashing forces in opposing situations, harming and being harmed,
it aims to adapt to the situation, see and understand the details that constitute the truth and gain control.
For this reason, Aikido is known as the only martial art in the world that does not have a competition.
